This policy applies to all information collected or submitted on Vocaboscope’s website.
Information we collect
Access and usage data
We may log information when you access and use Vocaboscope. This may include your IP address (a unique address that identifies your computer on the internet), the requested url, and general information about your browser or device.
Use of Vocaboscope
We collect information and other data you provide when you use Vocaboscope. This may include information used to register an account (an email address and a password), account settings (username, site language…), but also data about your vocabulary proficiency, wishes, or any other content that you may submit as you engage in educational activities.
Some of your interactions with Vocaboscope may lead to public contributions to the words (or works) databases: these may be publicly stated (for example, when you edit a word page), or implicit (when you practise your vocabulary). Such contributions are aggregated with contributions of others to improve Vocaboscope’s functionality.
We use the information we collect to operate and improve our website, and customer support. Email addresses are only used for authentication, password resets, and Vocaboscope-related notifications.
Visitors and users of Vocaboscope are able to view the content of the words (and works) databases, which may include your public contributions. No personal information is made publicly visible unless an username is provided (at which occasion only the username is shown when relevant).
We do not share your personal information with third parties except to the extent necessary to accomplish Vocaboscope’s operation. We may share anonymised or aggregate information, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
We may disclose your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.
In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets.
We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
You may delete your account information at any time. Any information that cannot be deleted (as aggregated in other forms, such as your public contributions) will be anonymised. Deletion will be effective from fourteen (14) days after the last connection to the service. A deleted account cannot be recovered.
Due to the nature of backups and logs, deleted data may persist in backups and logs until they are deleted.
